Marvel Legends Wolverine X-Men Bonebreaker Wave Guide

Wolverine was released as part of the Marvel Legends X-Men Bonebreaker Wave in 2022. Based on his comic-inspired costume, this version uses the classic yellow and blue look with black shoulder pads, a wide belt, and the distinctive pointed mask that most collectors immediately associate with Wolverine’s traditional X-Men appearance. In a wave that included several less obvious character choices, Wolverine was the big recognisable name and the figure many casual buyers would have noticed first on shelves.
Although he is part of the Bonebreaker wave, Wolverine is different from the other figures in the assortment because he does not include a Build-A-Figure piece.
SCULPT AND DESIGN
This figure uses a compact, muscular Marvel Legends body that suits Wolverine well. The proportions are broad through the chest and shoulders without making him look oversized, which helps keep the character’s shorter, stockier comic-book look intact. The costume design is very familiar, but it still works because the colour blocking is strong and instantly readable on the shelf.

The masked portrait is the default display look and gives the figure that classic superhero silhouette, while the alternate unmasked head adds a more aggressive expression with flared hair and an open shouting face. That extra portrait helps break up the release and gives collectors a choice depending on whether they want a more standard team display or a more action-heavy pose.
Articulation is solid, with good movement in the shoulders, elbows, torso, hips, knees, and ankles. Like most Wolverine figures, he works best in low, aggressive stances and forward-leaning attack poses. The claws are already attached to the hands, which keeps the look clean and makes setup easier. Paint is mostly straightforward, but because this is such a well-known costume, sloppy mask lines or uneven colour separation tend to stand out quickly.

COLLECTOR NOTES
The alternate unmasked head is the main extra to check for on loose examples, since it is the only swappable accessory included. Because Wolverine does not come with a BAF part, loose complete examples can sometimes be easier to find than other figures in the wave, but condition still matters. Paint around the mask, belt buckle, and claws is worth checking carefully, especially if the figure has been displayed heavily.
The claws should also be inspected for bending or paint wear. Since they are a major part of the figure’s visual appeal, even minor warping can affect how good the figure looks in a display. There is no BAF piece to worry about here, which makes Wolverine a simpler buy than the rest of the wave.
VALUE NOTES
Wolverine is the most character-driven purchase in the Bonebreaker wave. Collectors usually buy him because they want a comic-style Wolverine on the shelf, not because they need him for the Build-A-Figure. That gives him a different kind of value compared with the rest of the assortment. He appeals to casual X-Men buyers, Wolverine collectors, and completists who want the full wave represented, even though he is not needed to build Bonebreaker.
For anyone working through the full assortment, Wolverine is the non-BAF figure in the X-Men Bonebreaker wave checklist, while the actual Bonebreaker build is completed through Siryn, Havok, Vulcan, Maggott, Darwin, and Sabretooth.
