Mondo has taken its time getting Jean Grey into its 1/6 scale animated X-Men line. Looking at the reveal, that wait may have worked in her favour.
Rather than feeling like a basic gap-filler, the Mondo Jean Grey figure is packed with different expressions, hair options and psychic effects. It feels built around Jean as a character, not just her blue and yellow costume.

More importantly, she fills one of the most obvious spaces in Mondo’s animated team. At $245 though, completing the group is not enough by itself. There needs to be plenty in the box to make that price easier to swallow.

Why Jean Matters to the Mondo X-Men Line
This X-Men Animated Series Jean Grey Mondo release arrives at a point where much of the classic team has already been covered.

That changes how I look at her. As a Mondo X-Men Jean Grey collectible, she makes far more sense alongside Cyclops, Wolverine, Gambit and the rest than sitting on her own.

Mondo has been building out its animated X-Men at a steady pace, including its newer X-Men ’97 Storm figure. Jean gives collectors another major character who should help pull a full team display together.

The 11.25-inch height also looks right for the line. She is not meant to tower over everyone. Jean needs to look balanced next to Cyclops and the wider team, and the promo shots suggest Mondo has kept those proportions sensible.
Mondo Jean Grey Figure Guide: The Accessories Matter
For a Jean Grey action figure, Mondo has gone heavy on expressions and psychic effects rather than filling the box with random props.

There are four portraits covering neutral, smiling and two different eyes-closed expressions. You can also switch between her ponytail and hair-down look.

The Cerebro helmet is a strong inclusion, but the psychic pieces are where things get more interesting. Jean gets telekinetic blast hands, triangle-effect hands and several forehead effects showing different levels of psychic power.

My favourite extra may be the Magneto helmet floating inside a telekinetic bubble. It gives you a pose that instantly explains what Jean can do without needing a huge effect piece.

There is even a smiling Cyclops portrait for Mondo’s existing Cyclops. It is a clever bit of line-building and makes Jean and Scott feel connected rather than sold as completely separate releases.
What Could Hold It Back
The obvious issue is the price.
At $245, this Mondo X-Men Animated Series figure is aimed at collectors already comfortable with sixth-scale prices. If you simply want an animated Jean Grey on the shelf, there are much cheaper ways of doing it. We have already looked at the Marvel Legends X-Men ’97 Cyclops and Jean Grey two-pack, which covers the pair at a very different price level.

There is also no published articulation count in Mondo’s listing. The promo photos show several useful poses, but I would want to see how freely the elbows, knees and torso move before judging the articulation properly.
The same goes for paint and QC. These are promotional images. Jean’s animated look depends on clean colour blocks and sharp face paint, so small mistakes could stand out more than they would on a heavily textured costume.
Is the Mondo Jean Grey Figure Worth Picking Up?
If you came looking for an X-Men Animated Series Jean Grey figure guide because you already own several Mondo X-Men releases, Jean makes a lot of sense.

She fills an important gap, looks close to the cartoon design and has enough character-specific parts to avoid feeling bare.
For a one-off Jean collector, $245 is harder to justify. There is a lot in the box, but you are paying for scale, styling and compatibility with the wider Mondo display.
For collectors already deep into this line, however, Jean feels less like another optional character and more like the piece that finally makes the team look properly finished.
