Marc

The new Marvel Legends Starfox & Champion of the Universe 2 pack is finally official, and it’s an exciting release for anyone invested in Marvel’s more eccentric cosmic characters. This isn’t a set of mainstream Avengers or X-Men, but instead a deep pull from Marvel’s cosmic corner featuring two figures who’ve never been in the Marvel Legends line before. Whether you’re here for Starfox’s flamboyant flair or Champion’s pure power flex, this release is about as space-opera as Marvel Legends gets.

First Impressions from the Promo Images

Sculpt and Scale

Champion is clearly the star in terms of physical presence

Champion is clearly the star in terms of physical presence. His body sculpt is massive, with exaggerated arms, chest and shoulders. He’s bigger than a standard Legends figure, bordering on what you’d expect from a deluxe release. Starfox, by comparison, is more streamlined, with a sleeker build that leans into his agile, suave persona.

Hasbro’s been doing great work lately with proportioned pairings, and this one hits the contrast perfectly.

Paint and Colour Work

Marvel Legends Starfox

Starfox sports his vibrant comic-accurate white and purple suit, and while it’s a loud look, the clean lines in the promo images show off some impressive application. Champion’s deep blue skin and simple costume have less contrast, but the muscle shading and facial detail still pop.

There are no alternate heads included, which does feel like a miss, especially for a character like Champion who’d benefit from a proper rage face.

Articulation and Pose Potential

Both figures come with over 20 points of articulation. According to ToyArk, this includes butterfly shoulders and pinless joints, which is ideal for posing and fluid movement. Each figure gets a set of alternate hands, but that’s it on the accessories front.

For a set at this price point, the limited accessories may frustrate some collectors. However, the articulation and strong base sculpts give both figures enough presence to make them dynamic with minimal extras.

Who Are Starfox and the Champion of the Universe?

Starfox (Eros of Titan)

Marvel Legends Starfox figure

Starfox, also known as Eros, is the younger brother of Thanos, but you wouldn’t know it from his personality. Where Thanos is brooding and fatalistic, Starfox is a lover, diplomat and occasional Avenger. He has the power to manipulate pleasure and emotion, which has made him both a hero and a walking HR incident in the comics. His look here goes for the classic comic style, with a purple-and-white colour scheme and his iconic collar.

He’s popped up in cosmic arcs across Marvel’s history, even appearing in the MCU recently. But this Marvel Legends Starfox is clearly aimed at comic fans, not movie collectors.

Champion of the Universe (Tryco Slatterus)

Hasbro Marvel Legends Champion of the Universe

Tryco Slatterus, aka the Champion, is one of the Elders of the Universe, an immortal being who’s devoted his existence to mastering every form of combat. His most iconic comic moment? Probably when he challenged Earth’s heroes to a galactic boxing match. He’s powered by the Power Primordial, so while he doesn’t fire energy blasts or teleport, he’s one of the strongest physical beings in Marvel canon.

This figure version really leans into his size and brute force. He’s bulked up, scowling, and ready to wreck anyone who so much as suggests arm wrestling.

Where They Fit in the Marvel Legends Line

If you’re collecting cosmic figures, this release will sit nicely alongside others like Gladiator, Nova, and the Marvel Legends 2 pack Deathbird and Gladiator. Champion, in particular, expands the line into the Elders of the Universe—a group we’ve barely seen represented. Starfox adds another Eternal, and brother of Thanos no less, to your shelf, which further connects to figures like Gamora or even the Gamerverse Punisher and Nick Fury 2 pack if you’re building a wide-ranging cosmic display.

While both characters have deep Marvel roots, they’ve flown under the radar until now. This is one of those sets that long-time fans have been waiting to see realised.

Strengths and Weaknesses

What Works

  • First-time figures for both Starfox and Champion in the Marvel Legends line
  • Visually striking sculpt and size contrast between the two
  • Articulation includes butterfly joints and pinless tech
  • They bring fresh life to the Marvel Legends cosmic figures segment

What Doesn’t

  • Accessory count is bare minimum—just extra hands
  • No alternate heads included
  • The $57.99 price point may feel a bit high with no deluxe packaging or extras

Who’s This Set For?

This is clearly aimed at long-term Marvel Legends collectors and fans of cosmic Marvel storylines. If you’re into the more obscure, powerful or oddball corners of the Marvel Universe, this set fits right in. It’s also a great pick-up if you’re trying to build out a more complete Elders of the Universe lineup or need another Eternal to stand beside your Thanos or Gamora.

Marvel Legends Starfox and Champion of the Universe 2 pack box art

If your interest lies more in Earth-based teams like the Avengers or SHIELD, this might not grab you. But if you’re a fan of cosmic storytelling, or just love unique, visually impactful figures, the Starfox and Champion Marvel Legends 2 pack has a lot going for it.

Final Thoughts

This set does a lot right. The character choices are bold, the sculpts are visually distinct, and the design sticks close to the comics in all the right ways. Yes, it would have benefited from more accessories or expressive parts, but what’s here still feels substantial. For fans of Marvel Legends cosmic figures, this set adds welcome depth to a part of the universe that doesn’t get nearly enough plastic love.

The Marvel Legends Starfox and Champion of the Universe 2 pack for sale now through fan channel pre-orders might not be the flashiest release of the year, but it’s one of the most meaningful for those of us who’ve been waiting for these characters to finally get their due.
