Hasbro is back at it again with the latest addition to the Transformers Studio Series—this time, it’s Sentinel Prime from the upcoming Transformers One animated prequel! This isn’t just any reimagining of the iconic Prime, though. Based on what we’ve seen, this Voyager Class figure brings us a sleeker, more animated aesthetic that stays true to Sentinel Prime’s imposing presence.

Let’s take a deep dive into what makes this figure stand out and why it’s got fans buzzing.

The Aesthetic – A Sentinel for the Ages

Hasbro is back at it again with the latest addition to the Transformers Studio Series

From the first photos released, you can tell that Hasbro has poured a lot of attention into the design of this Studio Series Voyager Class Sentinel Prime. The figure has an impressive blend of sharp, angular lines that echo the character’s Cybertronian roots while also reflecting the smooth, futuristic design typical of animated interpretations. The head sculpt looks like it jumped straight out of the new film, featuring a menacing yet regal vibe—a perfect fit for a Prime.

The figure’s colour palette is mostly blue and grey, with striking yellow accents, giving him a bold, authoritative look. You can almost feel his weighty presence, and it’s easy to imagine him in a face-off with Optimus or Megatron on Cybertron!

If you’ve followed the Studio Series line before, you’ll know that Hasbro’s attention to detail is second to none. With this version of Sentinel Prime, it’s no different—there’s a nice mix of mechanical detail without making the design too busy. Plus, for those into articulation, the figure looks like it’s going to have a ton of posability—perfect for those dynamic battle poses or stoic leader stances.

Transformation: Fun or Frustration?

One thing I’ve always loved (and occasionally dreaded) about Transformers is the transformation process. The Voyager Class usually hits that sweet spot where you get a detailed figure without needing an engineering degree to transform it! Based on previous releases in the line, I’m hopeful this Sentinel Prime will offer a satisfying transformation from robot to vehicle mode without too much frustration.

The Cybertronian vehicle mode looks slick and smooth, much like the designs we’ve seen from the upcoming Transformers One film. I haven’t seen any official transformation videos yet, but the photos suggest it’ll be a fun process—likely an improvement on older, more clunky figures. I can’t wait to get my hands on it to see if it lives up to expectations!

Sentinel Prime vs Other Studio Series Figures

Transformers Studio Series first launched in 2018

While Sentinel Prime looks like a standout, how does he compare to some of the other recent Studio Series releases? Well, if you’ve been following my coverage, you know I recently checked out some other incredible figures, like the Dramatic Capture Series Triple Takeover set, which is a beast in its own right. However, the animated aesthetic of Transformers One gives this Sentinel Prime a unique charm—it feels fresher, lighter, and more accessible compared to the gritty designs of earlier figures.

There’s also a certain nostalgia with this version of Sentinel Prime, especially for long-time fans of the franchise. His role as a mentor in the upcoming movie brings a fresh, younger take, and that’s reflected in the design. Compare that to the bulkier, older-school figures from the Super7 Voltron Super Cyborg line, and you’ve got quite a contrast!

A Brief History of the Transformers Studio Series

The Transformers Studio Series first launched in 2018, and it quickly became a fan-favourite line because of its focus on screen-accurate figures from the Transformers films. The figures are designed to bring iconic movie moments to life with incredible detail and accuracy. Over the years, the line has expanded beyond the live-action films to include animated iterations, which brings us to the latest release, Transformers One Sentinel Prime. You can always expect Hasbro to capture the spirit of the characters, and Sentinel Prime is no exception.

If you’re a Studio Series collector, you’ll appreciate how this figure fits into the broader evolution of the line. The original Studio Series figures, like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, set the bar high, and it looks like this Sentinel Prime could even surpass those earlier releases in terms of style and playability.

A Must-Have or Pass?

From what I’ve seen, the Transformers Studio Series Voyager Class Sentinel Prime is shaping up to be an absolute gem for collectors and casual fans alike. The sleek design, solid colour scheme, and dynamic articulation make it a strong contender for one of the best figures from the Transformers One line. I’m eager to see how it holds up in person, but for now, I’m definitely recommending it to anyone who loves a good Studio Series release. Plus, this version of Sentinel Prime feels like the perfect bridge between classic and modern Transformers.
