Today, I’m rockin’ into the world of Iron Maiden (Up The Irons!), spotlighting the latest Eddie action figure from McFarlane Toys’ Music Maniacs series. This 6-inch figure, inspired by the iconic “Trooper” record cover, just rolled out, capturing Eddie in his battle-hardened glory, complete with a Union Jack flag and a saber.

Now, let’s be frank—this isn’t my first rodeo with Eddie figures, and while this one has its perks, it kinda feels like just another Tuesday in the collectibles market. It’s well-crafted, no doubt, thanks to the McFarlane touch, but it doesn’t quite send me running to the hills with excitement. Maybe it’s the nostalgia critic in me speaking, or perhaps it’s just that the thrill of the chase for that ultimate Eddie figure is yet to be met.

The “Trooper” artwork

What really gets my collector’s heart thumping is the artwork that inspired this figure. The legendary Derek Riggs, the maestro behind the “Trooper” artwork, really knew how to blend eerie with cool. His vision for Eddie has always pushed the boundaries of sleave art and is forever etched in the metal saga. So, while the figure is a decent homage, capturing Eddie’s menacing stare and windswept hair, it lacks a bit of the edgy spirit Riggs infused in his originals.

For those of you who’ve missed it, I’ve recently jabbered about some other figures that might tickle your fancy, like the ones from the newly announced Fallout TV show toy line or my rundown of the top 10 best 1970s action figures. Check those out for a bit of a toy history throwback!

And there you have it! Whether this figure is a chart-topper or a B-side in your collection, it’s all about the rock and roll spirit it brings to your shelves. Keep those collections eclectic and your spirits high, fellow toy collectors!
