LEGO has once again hit us right in the nostalgia with their latest release: the LEGO DC Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile (76328). This set is a loving homage to the iconic 1966 Batmobile, the sleek, gadget-filled vehicle that helped Adam West and Burt Ward fight crime on television screens. As a fan of both LEGO and classic Batman, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement over this detailed recreation.

What Makes This Batmobile Special?

The Classic TV Series Batmobile (76328)

This set is a hefty 1,822 pieces of pure nostalgia. The Batmobile is over 20 inches long, featuring authentic details like the signature red accents, the retro molded windshield, and rotatable wheels. It even includes an opening trunk with the Bat-Computer nestled inside—a detail that’s sure to make fans of the original show smile. The Batman minifigure is a perfect match for the set, donning the unmistakable light grey and dark blue costume from the series. However, a minor disappointment is that the minifigure doesn’t fit inside the Batmobile. It’s a bit of a let down, especially considering the fun of playability that LEGO usually offers.

The set also comes with a display stand featuring an information plaque, which feels right at home with the grown-up LEGO fan who might be more interested in displaying this beauty than swooshing it around the living room. This is part of LEGO’s push to create more adult-focused sets that offer a rewarding build experience and a display-worthy finished product.

If you’re into collecting LEGO or Batman memorabilia, this set is definitely a must-have. For a more action-packed Batman display, you might want to check out my recent review of the McFarlane Toys Batman vs. Bane figure set or the gritty Batman and Solomon Grundy Arkham City 2-pack.

Reminiscing About My Vintage Corgi Batmobile

This new LEGO Batmobile set also brought back memories of my vintage Corgi Batmobile from childhood. That toy was a gem, featuring all the gadgets that made the Batmobile a legend—spring-loaded missiles and a chain cutter, just to name a few. The wear and tear it suffered from my relentless play only added to its charm. For those unfamiliar with this classic, the Corgi Batmobile was a true marvel of its time, capturing the essence of Batman’s ride in a way that few other toys have.

LEGO 1966 Batmobile, but no Robin

While I’m excited about the LEGO 1966 Batmobile, I can’t help but wish they’d included a Robin minifigure—after all, Batman and Robin are an inseparable duo. But even with this minor omission, the set is bound to be a hit among collectors and fans alike. It captures the spirit of the 1966 series and offers a fantastic building experience.
