Some alternate-colour figures feel like an easy way to sell the same toy twice. Threezero’s latest Black Zero release is harder to dismiss.

The threezero MDLX Black Zero keeps the body and engineering of the regular Zero figure, but the new colours and expanded saber parts give it a different feel. It also brings back a form that many players first found through secret codes in the Mega Man X games.

The Colours Change More Than Expected
Black Zero first appeared as a hidden colour change in Mega Man X4. Later games made the form an actual upgrade, which gave it more meaning than a simple costume swap.

That history helps this figure. The black and white armour looks sharp, while the gold trim breaks up the darker sections. Fluorescent details appear around the eyes, shoulders and clear parts. The bright saber blades add another strong block of colour.

The result is still clearly Zero, but it does not look like someone simply replaced the red plastic with black.
Collectors who prefer the classic design can read our look at the threezero MDLX Zero figure for a closer view of the standard version.
Familiar Body, Strong Accessory Set
The MDLX Black Zero figure measures about 12.5 cm and has around 36 points of articulation. It uses a die-cast metal inner frame with plastic armour over the top.

That setup should give it a solid feel without making the figure too heavy. The regular MDLX Zero body already has the right sort of build for wide sword poses, crouching stances and mid-attack displays. Magnetic feet should also help with balance when used on a metal base.
The accessory selection is better than I expected. You get:
- A Black Zero Buster forearm
- Two faceplates
- Three pairs of hands
- A Z-Saber
- Two X5-style blades
- Two X6-style blades
- An X5 saber effect
Including blade colours from two games is a smart choice. It gives collectors a reason to change the display rather than leaving the same effect fitted forever.

Threezero has also explored other parts of Capcom’s blue bomber history, including its Mega Man Hyper Bomb figure. Black Zero feels more aimed at players who grew up with the later X games.
The Main Problem Is Availability
The figure is listed as an exclusive for selected events. Threezero has not confirmed the final price, release date or production number.

That makes any threezero Black Zero price and value guide incomplete for now. The normal version gives us an idea of the build quality to expect, but exclusivity can push the cost beyond what the extra paint and effects really justify.

There is also the usual warning that these are promotional images. The finish looks clean here, especially around the gold lines and printed details, but final paint quality cannot be judged until production figures reach collectors.
Is Black Zero Worth Chasing?
Based on the reveal, this is one of the more convincing alternate versions Threezero could have chosen. The colours have history, the extra blades are useful and the base figure appears well suited to action poses.

The Mega Man X Black Zero threezero release makes the most sense for collectors who already care about the secret form. It could also work as a single Zero for anyone who simply prefers the darker armour.
The concern is not the design. It is whether event-only sales turn a good small-scale figure into an expensive hunt. At a sensible price, Black Zero looks like a worthwhile companion to the standard release. At inflated exclusive prices, the regular red figure may remain the smarter buy.
