Mondo could have played this one safely. A blue-skinned warrior, a sword, a cape and a couple of spare hands would still have sold the character.
Instead, the Mondo 200X Keldor 1/12 scale figure leans hard into the moment that changed him into Skeletor. That choice gives the release more display value than a standard character update. It also helps explain the $115 price.

The Transformation Is the Real Selling Point
The first thing that grabs me is not the main portrait. It is the melting head.
Mondo has gone much further than a simple damaged face. One side shows exposed bone and torn flesh, while translucent yellow acid effects spread across the head. It is nasty, dramatic and very close to the darker tone of the 200X cartoon.
The acid vial completes the scene. Put Keldor in a falling pose with the damaged portrait and open hands, and you have a clear story rather than just another standing figure.
There are three regular portraits as well. The standard head works for a calm display, while the angry and snarky faces give him more personality. The expressions are different enough to be useful rather than feeling like small variations of the same sculpt.
A Strong Accessory Pack
Keldor comes with his double-bladed sword, Havoc Staff, acid vial, fabric cape, stand and three sets of hands. That is a sensible selection for the character.
The staff is especially impressive. Its large ram skull gives the figure extra height and makes the whole display feel more imposing. The sword also carries plenty of sculpted detail, with a design that fits the sharper 200X look.
The fabric cape may split opinion. It creates a fuller outline and should allow more movement than a solid plastic piece. However, fabric at this scale can sit awkwardly if the stitching or weight is not right. These are prototype photos, so the final material and fit still need to be judged when production figures arrive.
Articulation looks well hidden around the torso and legs, although the cape and shoulder armour could restrict some poses. Mondo includes a stand, which should help with wider stances and transformation scenes.
Does It Earn the $115 Price?
At $115, this is well above the cost of a normal mass-market 1/12 figure. The value comes from the size, paintwork and display options rather than a huge pile of small extras.
Keldor stands 7.5 inches tall, so he is a large figure for the scale. The layered armour, gold trim and purple finish also give the sculpt more depth than a basic release. Based on the promotional images, the paint looks clean and detailed, but final quality control cannot be judged from a prototype.

For casual buyers, $115 may be difficult to justify. For 200X collectors, the four portraits make this feel like several versions of Keldor packed into one release.
Why This Keldor Matters
The original 200X Keldor was released at San Diego Comic-Con in 2003 and limited to 3,000 figures. That release became an important piece for collectors because it covered a major part of Skeletor’s history that the vintage line never properly explored.
This new figure is not trying to copy the old toy exactly. It takes the same character design and gives it modern proportions, better movement and a much more detailed transformation effect.
That makes the Mondo Keldor timed edition figure more than a gap-filler. It gives the growing 1/12 line one of its strongest villains while also nodding to a release that many collectors never had the chance to own.
Final Thoughts
The price is high, but the contents make sense. Four strong portraits, two major weapons and the acid attack parts give Keldor several proper display options.
My main concerns are the final paint finish and how naturally the cape will sit. Everything shown so far is based on a prototype.
