Anyone searching for what is in Jada Toys Scooby-Doo Wave 2 will probably notice that this wave feels more balanced than the first. Scooby is the obvious main draw, but neither monster feels like filler.

The Sea Demon has a chunky body, bright colours and a strong cartoon shape. The Spooky Space Kook is thinner and stranger, with that clear dome and grinning skull face doing most of the work.

Together, the three figures should look very different beside the Jada Toys Scooby-Doo Wave 1 figures.

Scooby Is the Figure the Line Needed

Scooby looks like the most important release here, even if he is not the tallest or most detailed.

Two Monsters With Very Different Appeal

The Sea Demon may be the surprise favourite of the wave. Its wide body and clawed feet give it a strong, solid look. The bright green, red and yellow paint also matches the bold colours of the original cartoon.

Its large torso could restrict some movement, but this is not a character that needs martial arts poses. As long as the shoulders, elbows and feet offer enough range for creeping and grabbing poses, it should do the job.

The Spooky Space Kook is built around the head design. The clear helmet, blue skull and spacesuit need clean paint to work properly. Any rough lines around the face or marks in the clear plastic will be easy to spot.

That makes final quality control more important on this figure than the others. The reveal images look sharp, but retail copies will be the real test.

Is the Full Wave Worth Buying?

At $29.99 each, buying all three comes close to $90 before postage or import costs. That is not a small purchase, especially for UK collectors.

Scooby feels close to essential for anyone who already owns Shaggy. He completes the pair and gives the first wave much more purpose.

The monsters are easier to judge on personal taste. The Spooky Space Kook is one of the best-known villains from the classic series, while the Sea Demon offers a larger and more colourful figure. Both add variety rather than repeating the same body type.

Collectors building a full cartoon display will probably want the set. Those picking only the main gang can safely buy Scooby and wait for the remaining Mystery Inc. members.

The slower release of the gang may test some patience, although odd releases such as the Transformers Scooby-Doo Mysterious Prime show there is still plenty of interest in the licence.

My main concern is not the sculpt or the character choices. It is whether the joints, clear helmet and paint finish stay clean on the final production figures. Based on the reveal photos, though, Jada appears to understand what makes these designs fun.
